Samsung is unveiling new products in Japan amid intensifying economic conflicts between Korea and Japan.

Samsung Electronics is going to introduce 5G mobile processor called 'Exynos 980' for the first time in Tokyo on the 4th. Samsung Electronics is showing off its technology in system and foundry semiconductors in Japan.

Samsung Electronics will hold 'Samsung Foundry Forum 2019 Japan' event at Shinagawa Intercity Hall in Tokyo from 2 p.m. on the same day. About 500 people, including Samsung's customers such as Telechips, Nextchips and Magnachips, partners such as ARM and Gaonchips, and related companies, will attend the forum.

At this forum in Tokyo, Jung Eun-seung, head of Samsung Electronics' foundry business, will introduce 'Exynos 980', the first 5G integrated SoC (System on Chip) product. It is a product that combines Samsung Electronics' technical skills in system semiconductors that are applied with advanced 8-nano FinFET process.

It supports a wide range of mobile telecommunication standards from 2G to 5G with a single chip, and it also has a high-performance neural network processing unit (NPU) that enhances artificial intelligence's performance.

President Chung will also introduce products made from 7-nano EUV semiconductor processes such as AP (Application Processor) and 'Exynos 9825' and production lines exclusively for EUV semiconductors in Hwaseong, which will be in full operation next year. Despite Japan's tightened export regulations, the move is interpreted as an attempt to show confidence in its foundry business as well as in Japan's local and global markets.

Chung is expected to deliver a message from Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong at the forum, saying, "We will surely overcome any crisis and give the trust to our customers."
