Today's Semiconductor Day celebration...Lee Jung-bae, President of Samsung Electronics, is honored with the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Merit.

Celebrating the 14th Semiconductor Day and the 30th Anniversary of the Semiconductor Association
Up to 52 rewards in history, and the highest honor rating will be raised to the gold tower.

The "14th Semiconductor Day" and "30th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association" events were held at COEX in Seoul on the morning of the 22nd, giving rewards to 52 people of merit, the largest number ever. The Gold Tower Order of Industrial Merit, the highest honor, was won by Samsung Electronics President Lee Jung-bae.

The 14th Semiconductor Day and the 30th Anniversary of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association were held at COEX in Seoul in the morning, attended by some 300 industry, academic and research officials from the semiconductor sector, including Industry Minister Moon Seung-wook, Korea Semiconductor Industry Association President Lee Jung-bae, and SK Hynix President Lee Seok-hee.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, "Semiconductor Day" has been held every October since 2008 since October 1994 when Korea's semiconductor exports surpassed $10 billion a year for the first time, but this year, it was delayed by a month to November in consideration of the Corona 19 situation.

At the event, a government reward was given to 52 people of merit in the semiconductor industry who made strenuous efforts to develop the Korean semiconductor industry in connection with "Semiconductor Day."

This year, the government's reward was the largest ever with 52. The highest honor was upgraded from the silver tower to the gold tower last year. This is due to the increase in the size of government rewards and the upgrade of the discipline for those who have contributed to the development of the semiconductor industry, which was included in the 'K-semiconductor strategy' announced in May.

Lee Jung-bae, president of Samsung Electronics, who contributed to the development and mass production of the world's best mobile and server DRAMs, won the Gold Tower Industrial Medal, the highest honor, and Choi Myung-bae, CEO of YIK Co., Ltd., who contributed to Korea's first memory test equipment localization and semiconductor equipment exports, received the Silver Tower Industrial Medal.

In addition, 40 men of merit were honored by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Following the reward for the semiconductor meritorious people, there was a ceremony to award a semiconductor scholarship certificate, a ceremony to declare the association's vision to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the semiconductor association, and a ceremony to mark the association's 30th anniversary.

In his congratulatory speech, Minister Moon Seung-wook thanked the Korean semiconductor industry for its hard work and stressed the need for organic cooperation between the public and private sectors in response to the move to reorganize the global supply chain.

Minister Moon also expressed his ambition to build the world's best semiconductor supply chain by actively supporting private investment by implementing the "K-semiconductor strategy" announced in May, while also calling for the need to focus on fostering professionals to ensure continued growth of the semiconductor industry.

He also mentioned that he plans to hold the Korea-U.S. Semiconductor Partnership Dialogue in December to promote practical semiconductor cooperation projects between the two countries, focusing on people, technology and investment.
