Selection of institutions upon completion of the 'next generation advanced semiconductor' of development

l 45 posts from the year 2020 jumped 467 billion won.

[Choi Sang-Kook 24 iNews reporter] Ministry of Trade, Industry 'The next generation of advanced semiconductor technology development project' this year 45 selection task organization said it began in earnest on completion of the support three days.

The "Next Generation Intelligent Semiconductor Technology Development Project" is a project jointly funded by the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Science and ICT for 10 years starting this year to overcome the memory-oriented semiconductor industry structure and secure core technologies to lead the world's best AI, system semiconductor, and micro-process technologies.

The Ministry of Industry plans to invest 521.6 billion won (KRW 427.7 billion in state funds) from this year to 2026, and this year, it will provide a total of 46.7 billion won to 45 projects, including 27 projects (27 billion won) for system semiconductor (including AI semiconductors) and 18 projects (17.4 billion won) for semiconductor manufacturing processes.

The Ministry of Industry said, "System semiconductors, including AI semiconductors, are mainly characterized by small-volume production of multi-species tailored to demand, and the project is designed to focus on technology development linked to demand found in five promising strategic areas (including future cars, bio, IoT home appliances, robots, and public (energy)."

According to detailed technology development by field, AI semiconductors for future vehicles will provide 9.3 billion won for 10 tasks, including securing safety distances between self-driving vehicles ▲ auxiliary AI semiconductors (NPUs) ▲ vehicles. (The organizations that carry out major tasks: GAONCHIPS, Nextchip, A2U Information and Communication, Pointtech, Daeyang Electric Industries, Next Lab, Belive Micron, RF Core)

AI semiconductors dedicated to IoT will provide 9.2 billion won to eight tasks, including ▲ AI semiconductor for ultra-low power lightweight edge devices ▲ voice recognition operation support smartphones.(ETRI, Iron Device, Genetics, Sapien Semiconductor, Electronic Parts Research Institute, Astel, Neslab)

Bio-system semiconductors will provide 3.4 billion won for four tasks: semiconductor capable of detecting childhood diabetes ▲ image processing chips for pulse wave measurement without collecting blood. (Healthian, Iguru, A2Tech, G2E information technology)

It will provide 2 billion won for two projects, including a system semiconductor for robots ▲ a semiconductor for robot arm control motors ▲ a distance sensing semiconductor for robots.(Seinplex, Cizain)

Public (including energy) system semiconductors will provide 3.3 billion won to three projects, including semiconductors for ▲ 5G-based electronic anklets ▲ gas leak detection chips at underground facilities. (FYD, Logfret Korea, AirPoint)

In the field of advanced manufacturing technology for next-generation intelligent semiconductors, equipment and parts technologies for micro-processes are developed to realize high-performance and low-power, which are key elements of manufacturing next-generation intelligent semiconductors such as AI semiconductors. Representatively, it will provide 17.4 billion won to 18 projects, including ▲ atomic level etching equipment and automatic inspection technology ▲ soft error detection technology using neutrons.(Tes, KCTECH, DH, IVT, CURT, Higgs Company, YIK, Onetel Corporation, PSK, 4th Korea, Mecca-ro, YeST, APS Holdings, GeoElement, Hojin Platech, ST, Korea Semiconductor Research Association)

The Ministry of Industry said it will operate a single business group to link and successfully promote "next-generation intelligent semiconductor technology development" and strengthen links with Alliance 2.0, a cooperative platform between supply and demand companies, and mass production performance evaluation projects.
