GAONCHIPS, 'Samsung Electronics and ARM Partners' claims for preliminary screening for listing
According to GAONCHIPS' preliminary review claim, the company will list a total of 11.488,320 shares, of which 2 million will be publicly offered. Daeshin Securities Co. was in charge of the listing.
Design house is an intermediate step between semiconductor design and consignment production, and refers to a company that provides follow-up processing before designers hand over their designs to consigned producers. As design required for semiconductors such as meta-bus and self-driving cars is becoming more complicated, its role is drawing attention. AD Technology is one of the largest listed companies in Korea. AD Technology had served as a design house for Taiwan's TSMC until March last year.
Established in 2012, GAONCHIPS is known to be Samsung Electronics' official design house partner and the largest sales among unlisted design houses in Korea. Last year's sales and operating profit were about $17.1 billion and $2 million (2 billion KRW). In July, it was selected as 'Best Design Partner 2020' in recognition of its excellent semiconductor design support capability among ARM design partners that are global semiconductor Intellectual Property (IP).
The investment banking industry expects the value of GAONCHIPS to be around 200 billion won after listing. This is because the industry has a high interest in unlisted design houses. In December last year, it received 5 billion won in investment from We Ventures, Stone Bridge Ventures, DA Value Investment, and GU Investment.
