GAONCHIPS CEO Jung Kyu-Dong (pictured) has a clear business goal and management philosophy. It is to support domestic fabless (semiconductor design companies) to grow stably and significantly as a 'chipless' company. Furthermore, it is to play an active role as a bridge to help Samsung Electronics' foundries (semiconductor contract manufacturers) attract overseas customers.

"As a 'chipless company' (a company that only designs without ownership of the chip), our mission is to provide the best and fastest design without competing with fabless companies," CEO Jung told The Bell in an interview at GAONCHIPS' headquarters in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, on April 20.

"Our primary goal is to help domestic fabless companies become stable and large players, and we will focus on investing and expanding our workforce to achieve this," said Mr. Jung. "Attracting overseas customers is essential for the development of Samsung Foundry, so we will continue to move forward in this area (overseas expansion)."

GAONCHIPS is considering establishing a U.S. branch in the U.S. mainland this year, following the establishment of a Japanese branch in Tokyo, Japan, last year to target Japanese set (finished product) companies.
