ABOV Semiconductor and Gaonchips are strengthening their collaboration to develop high-performance MCU for home appliances. This partnership will focus on utilizing Samsung Foundry's 28nm process technology to develop high-end appliance MCUs.
ABOV Semiconductor, a specialized company in microcontrollers (MCUs) for home appliances, has traditionally developed various products using 65nm to 130nm process technologies. With the growing demand for advanced functionalities and lower power consumption in the high-performance appliance market, the company plans to introduce its high-performance MCU product line, which will be the industry's first to utilize the 28nm process.
Both ABOV Semiconductor and Gaonchips have extensive experience with Samsung Foundry, and the collaboration with Gaonchips—who has the most experience with Samsung Foundry's DSP technology—is seen as a natural progression. This partnership aims to enhance their competitiveness in the AI-driven appliance market and lead the global market.
A spokesperson from ABOV Semiconductor stated, "Through this collaboration, we expect to build new technological competitiveness in the appliance market and provide better products to our customers." They also added, "We aim to further strengthen our position in the MCU market through our partnership with Gaonchips."
This collaboration is anticipated to further enhance the competitiveness of both companies in the home appliance MCU market and to play a leading role in the global market. Moving forward, they plan to continuously introduce innovative products that integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technology to revolutionize the high-end appliance market.
