The 17th Semiconductor Day ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy and organized by the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA), was held on the 22nd at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas. During the event, 82 awards were presented to individuals and organizations for their contributions to the advancement of the semiconductor industry.
Among the honorees, Mr. Jung Kyu-dong, CEO of GAONCHIPS, was awarded the prestigious Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. This recognition highlights his 26 years of dedication to enhancing the competitiveness of the system semiconductor sector and advancing design solution development in South Korea.
Mr. Jung’s accomplishments were recognized in three key areas:
-Driving innovation and technological leadership in the semiconductor design solution industry.
-Fostering specialized semiconductor design talent and enhancing industry capabilities.
-Strengthening collaboration within the system semiconductor value chain, involving foundries, fabless companies, IP providers, and OSAT firms.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Jung expressed gratitude, stating, “This award is a result of the efforts of all GAONCHIPS employees. We will continue to focus on technology development and innovation to contribute to the advancement of the semiconductor industry.”
GAONCHIPS is actively expanding its business with a strong focus on artificial intelligence and automotive semiconductor solutions, targeting international markets as a growth driver. Earlier this year, the company secured a landmark project to develop AI semiconductors using Samsung Foundry’s cutting-edge 2nm process technology. This achievement underscores GAONCHIPS’ expertise in advanced design technologies tailored for ultra-fine processes.
