[SEDEX 2021] IP and design industries to support '2030 system semiconductor powerhouse' are also on the move
In May, Moon Jae-in, the president 'semiconductor strategy and k' by 2030 through comprehensive vision to leap forward into a semiconductor powerhouse. To this end, there is a task that needs to expand its memory-oriented semiconductor industry structure to system semiconductor. Samsung Electronics is also planning to become the world's No. 1 system semiconductor by 2030.
As the importance of system semiconductors grows, the role of allies to support semiconductor fabless will also be ordered. In this semiconductor war, various Intellectual Property (IP) companies and design solution partner (Design House) companies, which will be the key players in realizing a system semiconductor powerhouse, will participate in the event and show off their own solutions. In particular, it is expected that semiconductor design houses that connect foundry and fabless facilities, which are key infrastructures of system semiconductor production, will perform well.

CoAsia, a system semiconductor design solution company, will introduce technologies for designing customized core chips (Custom SoC) and 'Automotive Application Processor (AP)' that are tailored to international standards for autonomous driving. Based on 25 years of experience and know-how accumulated through collaboration with Samsung Electronics, KoAsia provides design services that meet demands of fabless at home and abroad.
Attention is also focusing on how AD Technology, which joined Samsung Electronics' Foundry Design Solutions Partner (DSP) last year, is doing so. After being selected as DSP, AD Technology is working together in the process of designing 30 semiconductors based on Samsung Electronics' advanced process technologies. In this semiconductor competition, it will introduce ASIC turnkey solutions and conduct research on demands for ASIC and MPW tasks next year.

GAONCHIPS plans to introduce more stable and cost-saving design services through its own processes and solutions. Fabless is an effective design service that can shorten the release schedule of chips.
It is predicted that total semiconductor design service and turnkey solution of ASICLAND will also attract attention. ASICLAND is the only TSMC Value Chain Partner (VCA) in Korea. It is focusing on TSMC's latest processes, IP development for mass-production, and SoC development. Semi-Five, a semiconductor design platform company, will also introduce a variety of on-demand SoC design solutions and services and capabilities necessary for them. Semi-Five recently drew attention from industries as semiconductor startup Revelion took charge of supporting design of Samsung Electronics' foundry's 5-nano process.
